I love wristwatches – Smiths Everest PRS-25 White Dial

Smiths is an old British watch brand, best known as beeing one of the first two watches to reach the summit of Mount Everest (the Edmund Hillary and Tenzing Norgay expedition). It is still debated as to which was first, but recent findings suggest that the glory belongs to Smiths. However, the Smiths Everest is based on the aestethics of the Rolex Explorer 1016, having an oyster style case of 36mm, domed crystal and lug holes. The white dial differs from the black dial Rolex, so it’s hard to say that this particular model is an homage watch. The PRS-25 also comes with a blck dial.

Smiths was a victim of the quartz crisis in the 70s, but the name was bought and revived by a small company called Timefactors.

I love wristwatches – Seiko Alpinist Mountain Glacier

Seiko Alpinists have been around for many years. The Seiko Alpinist ref. SPB199J1 has been named «Mountain Glacier», based on the dial color. The case is 39,5 wide, with a thickness of 13,2. It has a compass function which is controlled by the extra crown at four o’clock. The watch was supposed to be a limited edition, but there has been much hate towards Seiko since they only monts later released the exact watch as an unlimited edition, less expensive and with a bracelet included. The Mountain Glacier with bracelet included has the ref. nr. SPB197J1, but is the exact same watch as the SPB199J1.
